Well the Bible says, "For all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.." Romans 3:23. We were created to worship and bring glory to our father. But along the way, mankind fell short of keeping our eyes on Him and began to promote our own selfish agenda. This opened up a whole world of death, despair, sickness, wickedness and hopelessness. (Check out the book of Genesis and read about Adam and Eve.) Since we became slaves to our own sinful nature and desires, being human as we are, God sent His son to die for us and redeem us back to glory and being worthy of adoption into His royal blood line.
What does redeem mean? It means to buy back, purchase and release from captivity. You see we are sinful by nature and once we believe that Jesus is God's son and He died for our sins then we can ask Him to come live in us and freedom comes roaring in! This happens when Jesus Christ releases the Holy Spirit to dwell in us and allow Him to work out our issues, hurts, pain and failures and bring glory to God with restoration, healing and hope.
Why am I so passionate about my Jesus? Well who wouldn't be over someone who was brought freedom from mental strongholds and released my chains of anxiety and depression? Who wouldn't want a savior who taught me how to live controlling my emotions, instead of being controlled by them? I am an overcomer through Christ who daily gives me strength! I 'm not perfect but I do have the ability to live God's very best for me through the awesome power of the Holy Spirit at work in my life. He changes me from the inside out, and He can do the same for you!
The best part is the simplicity of it. All you have to do is ask. Here is an example prayer you can pray or pray whatever is on your heart:
"Father in Heaven, I only know about you, but I don't really know who you are. Please come into my heart with your sweet Holy Spirit and take the reins over my life. I ask that you forgive me where I have failed you and help me daily to walk in your will and become the person you created me to be. I believe I have a calling on my life to accomplish great things for your kingdom. Help me keep my eyes on you and and be strengthened by your word. Amen."
